"Well, fine! Keep your stupid Talona's Curse! I didn't want it anyway!" "Okay, fine! I will!" "Okay, fine!" "Fine!" "Fine!"
"Arise, my undead legions of doom! Arise!"
Okay, so it's no Army of Darkness. But it's a start.

So a bunch of stuff happened, and Ashanti ended up with Favored Enemy: Magical Beasts somehow.
(Oh, wait. Gargoyles are Constructs, not Magical Beasts. But it didn't stop him from getting cut down like dry wheat, did it? )
I don't know about you, but I think it was a good choice.

No, no, no! You have to hit him in a vital spot!
So why is the module's actual name "The Forest," anyway?

Favored Enemy: Magical Beasts, still paying the bills.
(...at least until the displacer beasts' pack leader showed up, smacked Ashanti around and chased her back out of their den, anyway. Not my proudest moment.)

Which way? We're standing in it!
I see. So just because I'm a dwarf, that automatically means that I'm an alcoholic lush. Is that what you think of dwarves, you cornshucking longshanks?
Damn. I hate it when I prove the bigots right!

Will somebody please tell Timo what the word "big" means?
I mean, look at them! Rubella only comes up to his chin, for Ao's sake....

You know that locked door leading to the cellar under Tantarn's Inn in Llorkh, right? Well, I got curious about that door, so Lilibeza prepared a Knock spell and a bunch of direct damage spells, then she went below to have a look around.
Given how creepy the atmosphere and the music are in Tantarn's cellar, I was expecting to find some deep, dark secret that Tantarn was hiding, like...I was thinking that those two cells would be full of mutants who used to be local townsfolk, or there would be a larder full of skinned elven carcasses...something like that. But there's nothing to find, not even food on the shelves in the storeroom. Is this area a work in progress, perhaps?

Meanwhile, in High Forest - Southern - Gnoll Lair...
GAH! What is that thing? It looks like a weird green grid in the walls!
GAH!!! There it is again! What is that?

So is this a subtle jab at the Forgotten Realms Cormyr server and those stupid charters which they make everyone carry around? It looks like this charter's former owner came to a bad end.

To my knowledge, if kalbaern wants to throw a jab at something, he doesn't do it subtly. I think it's just a toss at the general notion of an adventurer's charter, which isn't all that absurd in a lawful-good nation.

To my knowledge, if kalbaern wants to throw a jab at something, he doesn't do it subtly. I think it's just a toss at the general notion of an adventurer's charter, which isn't all that absurd in a lawful-good nation. It was meant as both a jest and an homage to FRC (Forgotten Realms Cormyr). Most of the first dozen or so PCs created here had actually begun there, or even if played over several servers, had spent a good deal of time there. There was also a short time that FRC was offline and during the outage, we had many players temporarily migrate over to here. Alas, when FRC returned online, most sadly went back, not because they preferred it to here, but merely because most had ongoing plots and stories years in the making there and didn't feel like -starting over- again. We also have a few other items IG here that reference FRC and/or some of its past notable PCs. "Helgrin" a dwarven merchant is an homage to an old PC on FRC that was retired there and whose storyline left him traveling westward to search out the old runes of Ammarindar and investigate rumors of its attempted rebirth. "Fisten's Fury" is a potion that is a jest and homage to a long retired on FRC as well. Fisten had been an elven mage who had the bad habit of fire-balling his own party. So his "potion" for setting weapons aflame has a 1 in 20 chance of exploding when used.

... I'll...just be selling all of my Fisten's Fury thingies now...yeah. (The Pirate Isles server had the same deal going on while it was alive; every time FRC went under, Pirate Isles suddenly got a huge influx of players. I've also read several forum posts here left by FRC players, including Micteu and Lady Frost. They were posting here around the time that FRC was down, I take it?)

Not every Level Up comes in a moment of glory. Sometimes, we must gain power through the most mundane of means.
