And now you want one of my characters to Level Up by drinking beer, is that right? So how many trouts did you catch? I don't like the idea of buying one butter stick for one trout, so I just sell them off to Loudwater's fishmonger for 12 Gold apiece. Eel, catfish and carp heal your lowbie characters just as much as trout does, and you can really stretch a single sack of flour. Screw the trout!

Now that I think of it, here's a plan for your lowbie's success: 1) Go to Loudwater. 2) Go fishing and catch a Trout. 3) Sell the trout to the fishmonger for 12 Gold. 4) Take that 12 Gold to the tavern and buy 12 Fried Eels with it. There! Twelve 4-Hit-Point heals for the price of one! You will learn to love the taste of fried eels. (...barring roleplay concerns, of course. Lilibeza's too classy for fried eels, so she opts for the fish chowder instead. Nonetheless, one Trout = four Fish Chowders, so it's still a good deal. )

You know that thing that flies out and explodes when you use an item with the Chickenegg power?
That is not a chicken egg!
Seriously, what is that? It looks like a hunk of meat or something.

So what's the most Experience that you ever got from a single kill?

So I sent Barleigh to the Abandoned Keep and lo, I encountered my first collectible paintings on this server.
Painting?
Ooh, painting!
More painting?
Yes, painting!
Stand aside, filthy cobwebs! I see another painting!
A wee bit small, but that's okay because painting painting painting!
So then I finally had a use for this building.
...what?!? Cheap paintings.
Barleigh, being a peasant farmer type of paladin, would probably be okay with those prices, but not me myself. Come on, Suna! Barleigh had to cut down demons to get to those paintings, which were probably hidden up in that keep for at least a hundred years while the keep fell to ruin around them. I was kind of expecting them to be worth as much as those magic books that you hand off to Loudwater's library for as much as 2,800 Gold (which I think is the going rate for that 15-pound stone tablet of a necromancer grimoire, or the grimoire with the two high-level Bigby spells in it). At least you can get some use out of those spell books (though you have to be a Sorcerer or a Wizard in most cases).
If this server had player-character housing, I think I'd just decorate a house with those paintings. Can we have houses and placeable paintings, Uncle Kalbaern? Please?

Well, it's nice that at least one of my characters can convince this jerk to open up and get chatty:
Bane? Pfft! Shar is where the real power's at! Bane wishes that he could be like Shar.
Ah, well. Lilibeza might as well humor her generous host while she's standing under his roof, I guess.
Evil gods aren't very nice. It's nice that Richaris sells Mega healing kits so close to Orlbar; it might save me a trip to Loudwater, at least. But his prices are so high! Maybe Lili can try that Oghma temple around the corner; they're pretty cheap. Oh, you mean like the Temple of Bane? Yeah, I just came from there. That place is a rip-off. Their god tried to crush my heart, too. So what is it, Ashynton? Is my money too eeeeevil for you? Jerk!

"...if you hold ill intent in your hearts..."
Uh oh. Is this an entire colony of paladins or angels or something else with Detect Evil powers? Why does this sound so ominous?
Whew. For a moment there, I was afraid that you people would stuff me full of arrows simply because I'm "morally alternative".
Sure is a relief!
And now I'm going to help myself to some of your abundant garden herbs...purely for wholesome, benevolent, non-orcish and non-ill-intended purposes, of course!

So Barleigh had an eventful day.
TIMBERRR!!!
The ogre chieftain and this sorceress were working together, with a pack of goblin slaves to do their bidding? What madness is this?
I didn't take a screenshot of the Haggard Miners inside, but rest assured that Barleigh set them free with no expectation of reward because that's what she does.
That immunity to Fear really makes Paladin an attractive Class, doesn't it?
I think it's the Legacy of the North server where you can Coup trolls with fire, but not with acid. Thanks for upholding the tradition of killing trolls with acid, Kalbaern!
Holy exploding ogre chieftains, Batman! Seriously. "Holy explodey!" Get it? Okay.
I think that 87 Damage from a single attack has to be Barleigh's personal record. Or does the extra damage from Divine Favor count?
Hey, look! It's that cave that Kalbaern takes us to visit every week!
Eat a bowl of death, fire lizard!
Barleigh doesn't plunder sarcophagi anymore (in no small part because she can ebb slowly towards Chaotic Evil territory that way). But she can still peek into them and see what jumps out at her, right?
So then Barleigh woke up those two Helmed Horrors who handed our weekly party a TPK last time. Barleigh stood fast against their Fear, but common sense said "Eat a chicory and get the hell out of here before you die!" So she did.
You win this round, Helmed Horrors....
Let's go see what the Longhammer dwarves are up to!
Nice training dummy. Eat your heart out, Llorkh!
What?!? An 82-Damage Critical just "chipped your arm"?
Tough crowd!
But 80 Damage isn't...you know what? I'm not even going to say it.
Give me that random loot pack or the chimera bites it!
It took your chief to chisel me down to Badly Wounded, and now he's dead. What chance do you two have of finishing the job?
Yeah. That's what I thought.
Yes, you do, Barleigh. Yes, you do.

So after Barleigh struck down that wizardess and her allied ogre chieftain, she found this "Kryptic Note".
I wonder if spelling "cryptic" with a K is in itself another clue....
So right up until Barleigh barged in and killed her, Kashia Fearinset was addressing this message to someone in power, perhaps someone whose name begins with "F".
Could it be...?
Perhaps Orlbar's townsfolk are right to distrust their mayor after all!
Now, what is Barleigh to do with this incriminating message? Confronting the mayor directly doesn't seem to do any good.
Perhaps she can hand it over to someone who has reason to see the mayor's position undermined. But who?
