Resting here requires two things:
1) That Resting is allowed in the area you are in. You can tell this by checking to see if your rest icon is glowing or not. (It's the eyelash symbol under your PCs portrait in the upper right corner of your screen)
2) That there is an actual resting placeable within 6' of your character. Indoors these are usually preplaced beds, mats or other things normally associated with resting. Outdoors you'll need to be near or place down an actual campfire, cookpot, tent or other portable camping placeable.
- There is no minimum wait period between rests here. We limit where and how to rest. but not how often. This allows casters to rechoose spells and not keep their party members waiting around grumbling while they do.
- Inn rooms and private rooms/homes will all have one or more resting placeables. Look for beds. cots, pillowed mats, etc... in these areas to rest near.
- Outdoors you'll need a resting placeable. These are usually carried and activated, then targetted on the ground where you wish to set them up. Campfires and cookpots also give a small XP bonus for putting them out (attacking them) when you are done with them (an incentive ... as flame animations can be laggy). Tents and some other placeables are not "selectable", but our area cleaners will remove them a short time after you depart the map.
- Sometimes even with resting allowed and a placeable next to you, you may get a message saying you cannot rest yet. This is usually because there are hostile creatures nearby. Use your own discretion for resolving such issues when they occure. Even game animals that do not attack are still "hostile" here. Usually the skittish ones will flee if they spot you and the others may wander off if you allow them too.
If you feel that it's a "game animal" keeping you from resting, then simply make an OOC chat message stating that you are killing it/them for the sole reason to rest. These are usually rare incidents and don't worry that our mechanics here have forced you to an action your charaacter normally would not take.
