Like for instanse.. if you know.. hey i can buy a immun to knockdown item.. why the hell should i then waste skill points in Decressig the chance for that.. Hmm... I can think of several uses for skill: Discipline other than just to stand against knockdown-attempts... but then this sounds more like item-envy or item-availability-envy than a true concern over a specific immunity being present. A different angle on the topic to consider would be that class-balancing through items and item availability is a rather easy way to enact just that, what with the game being what it is and all the caveats that come with it. Actually this is a good point. Discipline here is needed for more than KD, you get disarmed a good bit sometimes, in certain areas.

Well lets see discipline well I know fighter types that have not maxed out their disciple one of my own gulda simply because 1 skill point a level has to get spread over at very least two skills, heal and discipline the rest can be forgotten lol. That said if you have a fighter a monk a paladin or a ranger or any character that intends to be in melee and you don't take disciple to thwart the taunts of foes or the disarm attempts or the knockdowns then your probably making an error of judgment. as for an item that grants immunity to knockdown sure very nice but if your swords on the ground or your ac just dropped by six to that horde of kobolds or worse both, your toast!
