Since I have heard this a few times lately from different people, thought I would post on it.
What are the plans in terms of eating? Is it going to be required at some point after, or before rests?
Or will we have a timer that almost "forces" you to eat at some point?
I think something IG should make you have to eat. Is a nice feature that does promote rp sometimes, prolly not all the time, but sometimes.

With the cheapest healing available being in the form of a foodstuff, if anything, I have trouble RPing eating the quantity of said foodstuff that my low level characters do.

The biggest single reason we are avoiding a fatigue system that requires you to eat is the data base requirements to do it right. A data base can at times become an unwielding thing. every PC ever created here would add to it even if we deleted them from our server vaults. additionally, (though we aren't anytime soon) not relying on a database for our PW makes a future joining with another PW or even hosting multiple modules ourselves all the easier on us. I myself rarely RP "eating" as eating unless sitting around a fire or tent with others. After combat I just RP it as "patching myself up", purposely leaving it vague as to how. (Rubbing panfried trout on a wound just sounds too silly, even for me ) While the fishing, foraging, cooking, etc.. all yield a small amount of XP and healing power in the end, think of it as an OOC way here to help out those that need it the most. The new PCs. Sure those "free" hitpoints help all players, as does the XP. But, it helps the lower level PCs portionally more. Additionally, as much as I often like the "realism" with fatigue systems and requirements to rest, eat and drink regulary ... they are often annoying. Not so much annoying alone as when you are in a group and every 15 mins someone else wants to stop and rest or drink or eat or take a crap. Having half your party out of sync with your fatigue schedule tends to break the mood often. After reaching the gates of your enemies, you've spent so much time farting around half the group now has to log off. So I can forego a little realism to help gameplay flow smoother myself. Lastly, our rest system is only restricted to "where" and not "when" or "how often". This was done purposely to get folk off of their butts and out exploring. I've admittedly OOCly not invited some "casters" on outings on other servers mainly because they'd want to rechoose spells based on our destination and the group's dynamics. Then the whole group would often have to wait 20 or 30 mins RL, putzing around and goofing off just so a caster could go rest before we headed out. Yes you can use the delay to RP more too. But, sometimes that gets old or some of your group has scant time to play that day. Better we get folk off their butts and out the gates and down the road to destiny in a timely maner than worry about realism. As always, I'm open to suggestions still. As always, I'm also a cranky old stick in the mud often and am pretty set on not changing our food system.

I dislike eating systems and meals giving a basic amount of hits back suits me down to the ground.
I do feel that it is a bit strange on low levels when the fighter suddenly eats about 4 cod chowders one after the other following a particularly heavy beating....however to limit how often you could eat these would limit your already beligured low levels.
As a DM (which I am not here BTW) I reward people XP for RPing eating and doing all the other 'non' adventury things..I think that works well as you encourage RP rather than scheming.
Also Wizards and other casters are always going to want to have the best selection of spells on hand for the situation...but here there are rest areas around when a Party can RP Camping up and planning there next move...I dont see any problems

Yup, and with areas you can actually rest in spread out, it's still restrictive and casters need to often plan what they will memorise or pray for. Eating and drinking is something we can all RP and our DMs may not catch you every single instance you do, but we try and reward RP when we do see it.
