So we've had Wall of Fire for the longest time — like, right off of Bioware's coding bench — and it's nice for scorching enemies for a few dozen Hit Points.
But then I discovered this server, and this server has Walls of Ice, Stone and Iron. And up until now, I've largely been ignoring those spells. "So these Wall spells can separate me from the baddies that I'm trying to kill," I thought, "and where's the fun in that? I'll just have Lilibeza make one Wand of Wall of Iron, just in case she's dying and she needs to hold off the baddies and retreat." Well, today I discovered that you can indeed drop a wall inside a doorway and still lob nasty spells through or over the wall and into the room beyond, as Lili did when she marched down to the second level of the Hero's Rest crypt and Walled the doorways to those two side rooms where all those Red Wizard wannabes and their Kurst lackeys hang out, just to prevent them from wandering out into the main hall and foiling Lili's attempts to kill the lich. Then, after one of those wizards threw an Enervation spell through the wall and nailed Lili with it, she and I discovered the truth about Wall spells — that they can block movement pretty well yet apparently don't block line of sight much at all — and retaliated in kind. Spells that Lili subsequently lobbed into the room in order to kill those red wizards include:
• Summoned Skeleton Warriors
• Negative Energy Bursts (to heal the skellies, buff the skellies, harm the baddies and weaken the baddies, all at once)
• Acid Fogs
• Ice Storms
• At least one Empowered Isaac's Lesser Missile Swarm
• More Summoned Skeleton Warriors
• More Negative Energy Bursts
And then, once all the baddies in the room were dead, Lili and her Skellie Warrior had to bash down the wall in order for Lili to reclaim her pet. Every rose has its thorn.
So to what uses or purposes have you put the solid, non-damaging, non-Fire Walls to work?
