So after chewing on this topic before finding this topic and not really noticing any active guilds for Wizards and/or Sorcerers in the forums, I decided on two things:
1) Lilibeza Hillington should be my one character who gets to make a house...
2) ...because the Heartlands could use a Mages Guild, and such a house would serve that purpose quite nicely.
Such a house-cum-guild would fit Lilibeza's ambitions and thirst for knowledge well, and Lilibeza has conversed with the more veteran wizard Gustav about the prospect of a guild where wizards could pool their knowledge, research together and perhaps aid each other against enemies and other problems.
(Whether such allied wizards would allow themselves to get roped into Lilibeza's driving goal of exacting vengeance against the Cowled Wizards of Amn would be entirely up to them, of course, but Lilibeza's not too good to schmooze, cajole, seduce, bribe, blackmail and/or threaten to garner whatever allies she might eventually need for that endgame.)
One of those "burrow houses" in magic-friendly Secomber would be ideal for a shadowy, subterranean Mages Guild, I think. So, more questions:
1) What sort of pricing would be involved in procuring a home, guild house, place of business or whatever?
2) I'm still trying to cook up a good name for such a guild, one that doesn't favor any particular School of Magic and is at least somewhat clandestine, the better to help keep wolves out of the fold. The vast majority of Seventh Sanctum's randomly generated Magic Guild names are garbage ("The Salamander Nose Group"? Seriously?), but a few of them have given me food for thought:
The Umbral Road
The Scarlet Circle of Noctoriosa
The Black Amber Coterie
The House of Black Amber
The Consortium Arcanus
The Fifth Circle
The Orichalcum Society
Haus der Hexestein ("House of the Witchstone")
Vox Veteres ("Voice of the Ancients")
Domus Mysteria ("The House of Secrets")
Domus Sidera ("The House of Starlight") or Domusidera (same thing, just blended together)
So have you answers for my humble querries, and am I off to a good start on a good idea?
