Little-known fact: Characters can get XP by drinking a lot of booze! It seems that this can only happen once per server reset per character, and you only get the XP if your character takes X many drinks without passing out. Vomiting is okay, just don't pass out. The DC of the Fortitude checks increases by 1 after each drink taken, and it also seems to be 1 point lower if you're drinking a Beer instead of a Wine. Naturally, characters with high Constitution, high Fortitude and/or the Resist Poison Feat do better at this accomplishment than, say, a Wizard with 8 Constitution. It seems that your character also only gets 25 XP for the first time he or she achieves this drink-X-many-drinks-and-stay-awake accomplishment, and 50 XP for every time after that. So, Q&A Time: 1) How exactly is that number of drinks determined? 2) How is the number of failed Saves before you pass out determined? 3) Is the Save DC for Spirits higher than that of Wine? 4) Why have I not yet found a single bottle of Spirits on this server? No whiskey, no liquor, no bourbon, no vodka, no rum...nada. What's up with that? 5) Mead is a Wine on this server, when in real life it's more like ale or some other sort of Beer. What's up with that? So all in all, this should help change your view on all that booze you find in the loot. Like firewood, you shouldn't just sell it or leave it where you found it. Grab it and squeeze some XP out of it! Thank you.

Thank you. Also, it seems that you normally get the XP award after 11 drinks. Beer is better than wine because of the lower DCs. And Lilibeza here will drink anyone under the table (as long as they don't mind her casting Ironguts, Bear's Endurance and Spiderskin first).

Is there some kind of cash reward for doing that? *goes about creating a Level 1 Human Barbarian with 18 Constitution and both the Resist Poison and Snake Blood Feats*

Imagine all the screenshots! Gotta have proof of the deed, right? By the way, was I supposed to put this topic under General Discussion instead of Off Topic Discussion? Oops.

I now want to see someone go through an entire level by only drinking I actually did just "this" back in 1981. Back then ... it was called being a sailor.

Grab it and squeeze some XP out of it! Thank you. The XP for drinking comes from something that "Ken", AKA DM Ainur created years ago. It has only been used on three PWs to date that I know of; FRC (Forgotten Realms Cormyr), Moonsea and the Dales (Ken's short lived creation) and here. Ken, like the rest of us liked the "little details" and often planted things like this as unannounced "Easter Eggs" in his creations. I went and looked at "his" noted in the script today and realized there is a minor error which I am fixing for the next update. Based on Ken's notes, the XP reward should follow the 10th drink, not the 11th and is only gained if the drinker is still considered sober. The drinks must also be consumed within a fifteen minute window.

I can confirm that the number of drinks needed for the Experience award has been reduced to ten. Mission accomplished, Kal! Thanky. So how do your characters prepare for a round of binge-drinking, that they may improve their odds of reaching that ten-drink finish line without puking and falling over? Ashanti M'bao (Barbarian-Ranger): Her spells suck, so just start drinking while counting on her great Fortitude bonus to come through; if she fails her Fortitude Saves twice, fire Barbarian Rage and finish the rest of the ten-pack very quickly. (Hey, she's one of those angry drunks. It's cool!) Thell Gundaggorath (Fighter): What spells? Her Constitution's great, her Fortitude's big and Fightery, she has that "+2 versus Poison" bonus for being a dwarf...just start drinking! Barleigh Stoughfarrow (Paladin): Cast Resistance, cast Divine Protection and otherwise depend on her hefty Paladin-esque Fortitude Saves. Start drinking. Rubella Thrusher (Cleric): Cast Bear's Endurance (+4 or +5 to Constitution would be ideal), cast Resistance, cast Conviction, cast Divine Protection, hope that her Resist Poison feat wins the day (in spite of her wretched Constitution and her measly Clericky Fortitude bonus), start drinking. Lilibeza Hillington (Wizard): Cast Bear's Endurance (aiming for +4 or +5 to Constitution, if possible), cast Resistance, cast Ironguts, cast Spiderskin, start drinking. Maralah (Druid): Cast Resistance, cast Spiderskin, Wild Shape into a bear (preferably inside her own inn room, so the townies can't see that there's a giant frickin' bear inside their city), start drinking. Fluttering Hawk (Monk): Her Fortitude's good enough on its own. Just stick to beer and she'll be fine. Orna Siltelis (Rogue) or Zedorya Flamedance (Bard): Either stick to beer or don't bother boozing at all; their Fortitude Saves (versus Poison and in general) suck, and they have no sustainable way to get around that. (Hey, vomiting all over oneself and passing out is a morbidly traumatic experience! Can you blame them for invoking the Powers That Be for a more durable liver to spare them from that torment? ) So...anything like that?

And now, Lilibeza just learned how to become a better Wizard (wizardess?) by drinking Kaorph.
Pretty educational stuff, that Kaorph!

So how many drinks does it take to reap this rumored 100 XP reward, anyway?

Okay...so on a lark, I took Lilibeza to Tantarn's Inn. I had her buy 50 bottles of Bitter Black, then I quickslotted both bottle stacks for rapid chugging (since even the 32-round duration for her Extended Blood Frenzy spell will still expire before you know it). Before doing that, I laid a bunch of spells on her: - Empowered Bear's Endurance (and yes, I cheesed it until she got a perfect +7 Constitution bonus)
- Ironguts
- Spiderskin
- Heroism
- Greater Heroism
- Extended Blood Frenzy
- Tenser's Transformation
...all of which, all told, started her off with a +33 bonus to her Fortitude Saves vs Poison. There might be a bonus cap at work in there somewhere, because even her first few failed Saves didn't bring her Fort bonus below +33. She made it all the way to 42 drinks before she puked and lost the game; at around Drink #48, she passed out. And still, there were no XP bonuses beyond the one you get at ten drinks. So sorry, guys, but I'm calling shenanigans on the whole "Keep drinking and you'll get more XP" claim. It smacks of bullpucky now...unless anyone has solid proof of this mythical bonus, of course.
