One thing I've often missed in NWN is the old school PnP play style where a dedicated core group of adventurers of mixed race/class/gender gathers together as a team to overcome the evils of the world they adventure in. Characters gathering to explore and overcome obstacles, rivalries and minor clashes with each personalities creating a unique group dynamic often hard to find in online games.
Ideally, a group of 5-8 players would be ideal. Getting folk together for a scheduled weekly or even every other week outing will be the trickiest part. With our unique XP system here, if a player misses a session or two, they shouldn't fall too far behind the rest of the group as they would get slightly more XP than those that leveled before them and quickly close the gap again.
Rules for the Group
1) PCs would only be played during scheduled group outings. No gaining loot or XP separately from the group allowed. This includes logging it to fish or gather herbs since both have XP rewards.
2) PC can be logged in outside of group outings to make use of crafting and personalization options in the OOC/Welcome Areas.
3) Found items like scrolls, magic weapons, armors and other things will be distributed to the group based on who's use of the item(s) would bring the most benefit to the party over all.
4) After distribution of items/loot that benefits the party, the remainder will be sold and divided so that each character gets shares as follows:
- Participated in the outing = 2 shares.
- Did not participate in the outing, but is a regular member of the group otherwise = 1 share.
- Group fund used to purchase healing supplies and other sundries as needed by the group overall = 2 shares. (administered by the party's chosen leader)
- If the group's healing/sundries fund grows beyond its needs, excess funds can be loaned to group members with a 20% interest applied to the repayment of the loan.
- Loans must be repayed before another can be granted to the same character. The group will vote on loans granted and any ties decided by the current party leader as they see fit.
5) PCs will be single classed through 20th level. After reaching epic status, no restrictions apply. This is to help create dependence on other members and reduce the "my PC can do it all themselves" mentality that often occurs with online games.
6) Latecomers may join the group at any time prior to the first party member reaching 10th level.
7) To help maintain a diverse group, no more than two PCs shall be of any given race except human. (IE, no more than 2 elves, 2dwarves, etc ... in the group at once)
8) Additionally, there will be no more than two PCs of the same class in the group. (IE, 2 clerics is fine, but not a third)
9) While there are no restrictions on alignments per se, the overall intent is for this to be a group of "adventurous do-gooders" at its core. So any evil PCs must hide their natures from the rest and cooperate as a whole.
10) In short, consider this a live "OOTS" campaign and have fun.
