I swear, quitting smoking is easier than quitting NWN. No matter how many times I've put this game down in the last decade, I keep coming back.
Just wanted to say hello now that I'm spending time playing here. So far I'm enjoying a lot of things in the module. Definitely worth seeing more.
I used to spend a lot of time on FRC, so I guess I'm part of that crowd, so to speak. I know a couple of faces here, look forward to seeing them in game.

While a good many here did frequent FRC themselves, we've a mix of some that never have along with a sprinkling of some for whom we're their first ever online NWN experience. There's room for all here and ... a fresh start for many.

I'm actually somewhat surprised new people get into this game still, given how aged it is getting. But, I really don't know of another good online RPG where you actually roleplay, and D&D mechanics are involved at all.
It is good to hear though, without a doubt.

The engine may be old but CEP keeps adding new things and the basic functionality is very good, something I can't say for NWN2.

Agreed, the acronym MMORPG, for example, is a misnomer. There isn't any roleplay in pretty much all of those games, sadly. NWN has a great interface, and functionality. NWN2 sadly did not have any of those things.

I think it's the sheer number of players on each server that makes MMOs so RP-unfriendly. I've seen good RP in MUDs and NWN RP servers, both of which tended to only have 30+ players in boom times (events, etc).
And does CEP actually add anything these days? I stopped running my updater after it told me there were no changes over the course of about four months.

That would be because the updater has now been abandoned, CEP 2.4 has gone back to a manual download. It includes ridable creatures and many new placeables and inventory objects.
