One aspect of the soon to be reinstated "Epic" encounters will be to add well known personages from various Forgotten Realms Sources as encounters.
- These could good, bad or indifferent NPCs.
- Some could offer a quest. If accepted, the quest when completed would ensure that same NPC spawns in a particular location to meet you. I.e., the NPC will name the place they can later be found again.
- Some could be an epic villian and react with hostility. Villians will usually carry a token that can be turned in for a bounty later.
- Few if any NPCs will display their "true" names. You'll need to "guess" who they may or may not be based on interactions. *Side Note: More than one drow that duel wields scimitars travels the surface in our timeline ... only one won't kill you on sight.
- DMs (if IG) will recieve a message when Epic Encounters are triggered. This way, they can come observe. If an Epic/Renowned NPC is killed, while a DM watches, more than likely, that NPC will be removed from our module forever. Unobserved encounters will not count. I.e., make certain a DM is near if you kill Drizzt.
- How you react/interact with one NPC may well dictate how their allies treat/percieve you in the future. I.e., kill Drizzt and just maybe Catti-brie or wulfgar will come looking for your head.
- Some NPCs will simply be unique to our PW. These might be a wandering merchant, another quest giver or just a random suprise.
Before nominating/suggesting an NPC for addition to this system, consider the following:
- The NPC must have cited sources stating they've traveled in our PW's Region.
- Year of travel if known. (1368 and forward)
- List of sources they can be verified in. (Forgotten Realms Products, no links to other PWs or Wiki entries)
Let the suggestions begin.
