You can only be an Officer of one guild.
"Officers" are the leaders and lieutenants of each guild. Officers have the power to directly recruit others in the names of their respective guilds. Officers will debate the guild's course whether IG or on their own forums.
At least one Officer will need to be present for any guild event. Officers will have access to their guild shops and usually have a better selection than "Recruits".
"Recruits" range from raw recruits to seasoned veterans, and each guild will have it's own structure or ranks. Recruits will have access to their respective guild shops, but will often be limited in what goods are actually available to them. They usually have little sway on the guild's course.
Players can become Recruits of any number of guilds even Opposing guilds, although it is recommended that all existing guild membership be made known to the guild you are applying to join.
Players with PCs that become Officers in any guild are then on prohibited from having Recruits in any guild that is a direct rival (an Opposing guild).
If a player leaves their guild or retires their Officier PC they still cannot take an Officer position in another guild for six months real time from the date of leaving of the first guild, and then only with DM permission (similiar to the way one requests a PrC).
A Player can have a PC retire or leave a guild and then at a later date have another PC try and become an Officier in the same guild without DM approval, but they'll be treated as a fresh recruit each time.
Players can also have more than one PC as an Officer in the same guild. They cannot use "extra" PCs to break ties or scew votes in their own favor though. In regards to any guild decisions, it'll be one vote per player and not per PC.
In the case of a player having Recruits in Opposing guilds, then having one of these Recruits promoted to Officer, the player should then have their Recruit leave the Opposing guild.
