I made a char to test the concept of crossbow specialist and gave it all the feats then as a test I tried with out taking rapid reload and guess what the number of attacks with crossbow was 4 in both builds. so is rapid reload broken or is the crossbow scripts broken, if memory serves light crossbows were easier to reload and fire than heavies but that doesnt seem to be reflected in NWN either. This is fairly important for those who do tend to use crossbows so any feedback be appreciated.

Yes rapid reload works.
Grumm has it and he has the same amount of attacks with crossbow as he does greatsword.
Finbarr doesn't have it and has 2 attacks with sword, 1 attack with crossbow. (This is why I sold you his crossbow, heh).
Did you level up the PCs in the OC or what?

levelled them up in a mod offline and believe me 16th lvl fighters one with and one without both had four attacks a round with the crossbow thats what made me wonder if something had broken the feat.

That's NWN just being screwy.
It shows that you have 4x attacks per round but you won't unless you have rapid reload.
I just tested with 2x fighters one with rapid reload shoots 8 bolts in around 11 secs, one without takes upwards of 40 secs to do the same.

Hmm ... never used it myself, but like rapid shot doen't it just show a decreased AB and then you get the extra shots IG? And doesn't it have to bee set as the "mode" like rapid shot?

No, it automatically gives you the same number of shots with a crossbow as you'd have with a regular bow. You take no AB penalty, but it wont work in conjunction with rapid shot.

I used to wonder at why so many sites hosted crossbow weapons that featured the magical property Haste or casting Haste x times a day...
...and now I know!

What I never understood is why more servers don't give crossbows an obscene amount of "mighty" enhancement. They're suppose to be the easy, slow firing weapons with all the punch, but usually they don't compare to the potency given to shortbows and longbows.

What I never understood is why more servers don't give crossbows an obscene amount of "mighty" enhancement. They're suppose to be the easy, slow firing weapons with all the punch, but usually they don't compare to the potency given to shortbows and longbows. I'll look into this at some point. I really wish I could find a non-laggy way of enforcing mighty effects also. Being a bowhunter in RL and having used crossbows as well, I can assure you that outside of close range the extra force really only translates into extended range with such weapons but rarely a greater effect. Crossbows had a great punch against armored knights at close range, but beyond that they were for harrassment mainly as only mounts and exposed flesh were usually vulnerable to a lucky shot. It's much the same with bows. There's also a RL limit to how many pounds of draw hunters can use before the extra force is counter productive. An arrow or quarrel that strikes a vital spot in your prey is far more effective if it sticks in them than if it goes clean through your quarry. Further, bows and crossbows with "Mighty" should likely have minimum strength requirements to even use. If you couldn't physically draw the weapon fully .. a crossbow couldn't be loaded at all and a bow at best would lack accuracey if you couldn't properly draw it. All food for thought at a later date though.

Well therw were custom made bows and heavy crossbows and the really heavy crossbows required cranequins to reload them, that said a cut down version of a ballista thats barely man portable would be fine for a sniper but the mass and time consumed in loading the monster would make its utility doubtful except for sniper assassin types and even then something you can hide would probably be more sensible after all how on earth do you run away with a ballista and the cost would make it an item you wouldnt just abandon.
