So one Level Up and a new Greater Wildshape III ability later, I did my usual thing and stripped Maralah of all equippables, opened my Journal and made notes of all the stat changes with each new form. As usual, not all forms are created equal; anything the Griffon can do, the Chimera can do better (except for keeping a higher Dexterity, but considering that the Chimera has a higher Armor Class overall, that lower Dexterity loss really only results in an extra +1 to Reflex Saves...not quite enough to offset all the extra melee damage, higher Armor Class and a breath weapon to boot). But the Manticore combines nice stats and decent melee damage with a ranged scatter attack, and the Sphinx's good damage and Armor Class come with a self-buffing War Cry. I might still make the Chimera my favorite GW3 form, though.
The only new form which is actually lackluster is the Drider. Its Dexterity is decent, and it has unlimited Ultravision, but that's it for the good news. It would be better if its unlimited Darkness worked, as the Drider form could combine Ultravision and Darkness for either quick getaways or repeated ambushes and guerilla strikes. But every time I try to use Darkness, it gets interrupted with that error message about concentration.
What might be causing this? How can it be fixed?
And on a lesser note, the Sphinx comes in male and female forms, and I believe that the Chimera does too; Maralah's a woman, so she turns into a Gynosphinx instead of an Androsphinx, and her Chimera form has a maneless lioness' head instead of a full-maned lion's head. And there are female Driders among the Toolset's creature catalog, yet that Drider form is almost certainly male (either that or a very, very flatchested female). If the gnomes ceaselessly hard at work in your workshop ever have a spare moment, Kal, could they give GW3's Drider form a female variant as well?
