I like the Evil Talismans. Only one of my characters has any use for them; for the rest, they're worth a good 200 XP and a few Lawful points (the latter of which is bad news for my Chaotic or ethically Neutral characters, but it's nothing that a little graverobbing won't fix). But for that one character, her hard-won Evil Talismans can make all the difference. So the three grades of Animate Dead castings are quite handy, and the bright red light without the customary Hide penalty is pretty cool too. But as I noticed earlier today, the Attack Bonus and Damage Bonus don't seem to be manifesting. Spoileys ensue. No meta-perving Lilibeza's stats, lamers! So without the Talisman equipped, Lilibeza's Attack Bonuses with her Flaming Ornate Longsword +3 are +12 and +7. But equip the Talisman and her Attack Bonuses are still +12 and +7. And no mention is made of any Negative Energy Damage Bonus versus Good. "Okay, maybe it's just her longsword muting out the bonuses from her Talisman. Let's unequip the longsword and see if the Talisman's bonuses start popping up." Lilibeza's Attack and Damage, unarmed, sans Talisman. Lilibeza's Attack and Damage, unarmed, con Talisman. Still no Talisman-fueled changes. So, yeah. Why might this be?

Easy answer- I would say it just isn't registered as a weapon, or something like that. Notice how it says "Offhand Weapon: Not Applicable." So in theory, it looks like an item like that can only provide lighting (It looks like it's basically a torch).

I was simply wondering about the why and wherefore behind giving an unholy symbol powers that don't seem to apply to anything. The talisman is Plot (and thus can't be bought or sold), so adding powers to adjust the talisman's market price surely isn't the reason. Also, long time, no see! Where have you been, stranger?

I figure it's probably not intentional that the powers don't do anything. I've been busy! Hope all is well!
