Greetings, from Llorkh!

Hi, everyone.

I stumbled across this board the other week on a Google search for "Llorkh" as I was playing an emulation of the original Neverwinter Nights from AOL in the 90's. Although I missed that game's live server by a matter of months after it closed down in 1997, I'd played the original Baldur's Gate and eventually Bioware's NWN as a wee lad back when they first came out.

I was always super disappointed with the NWN campaign that shipped with retail, and had never played much of the player generated content, but have really enjoyed going back and playing the original Gold Box D&D games that preceded Baldur's Gate and were the basis for the original NWN. So, finding this persistent server, which seems to cover much of the territory of the original NWN that BioWare's neglected, I was intrigued.

I just downloaded all of the hak files to my existing NWN installation, and to my amazement am in the game now with no problems. (Imagine my surprise when the first boat in town asks me if I want to go to Llorkh!) Really digging what you have all put together here, and am excited to visit Longsaddle and all the other names I recognize from previous adventures.

Neat, was wondering if I'd really connected to the server or not.

I am really enjoying this so far, well done to everyone involved! This much more closely resembles the NWN re-make I'd always envisioned, and the overall tone seems to have picked up where the original Gold Box version and Simutronics games like Dragonrealms left off. I am really impressed!

Credit where credit's due, most of this server's updates and development were put together by Kalbaern, who has also worked on several other NWN servers past and present, including Forgotten Realms: Cormyr, Land of the Purple Dragon and Pirate Isles of the Forgotten Realms.

So...hear that, Kalbaern? Take a bow!

(Come to think of it, for want of a tavern in Orlbar, where do the land's adventurers gather for ale, meat, rumors and tales of adventure?

I'd suggest Tantarn's Inn in Llorkh, but it's maybe a little off the beaten path.)

Although it looks like it was Loudwater, not Longsaddle whose name I meant to say above, but that too was mentioned in the original NWN if I'm not mistaken. Now, if I can just make it to Secomber from Loudwater, then I really will be to the edge of what was in the Gold Box NWN! The road leading south out of Triboar mentioned it going to Secomber someday (and presumably then on to Loudwater and Llorkh if Steve Case hadn't shut it all down).

So! While the server is down I will post my update. Been slaying goblins and hobgoblins all across the Grayflow River basin, through the Gray Wilds and to the edge of the Graypeak Mountains. I had somehow made it to Loudwater and back to Llorkh via the roads several times before discovering that the harbormaster in Loudwater will take you to, of all places, Secomber(!!) and WATERDEEP! So although I haven't ventured out yet to Waterdeep since Araan's Descent to Undermountain (*wink wink*) many moons ago, I did take the trip to Secomber and walked back through Zelbross to Loudwater over the roads (whereupon I found out for the first time that there is a *north* Loudwater!).

And there I am. It's been a nice experience where I keep thinking I'm approaching the boundaries of what's in the game, and instead I keep getting surprised when more and more vistas keep opening up. Hopefully the server will open back up soon, too!
