I'm wondering about something here. I understand the weapon switching being an exploit due to the bug that causes you to get extra attacks, but, I'd have to question weather it's an exploit in all circumstances.
Situation A:you are fighting goblins. you have two longsword. you repeatedly swap out the swords in mid combat in order to get extra attacks.
no question. This is an exploit.
Situation B: you are in a crypt, you are fighting zombies and skeletons. you know, either by experience or lore that blunt works on skeletons and slashing works on zombies. you use a hammer to take out all of the skeletons, then pull out the longsword to deal with the zombies If I were a dm, I'd be inclined to say this was not an exploit. They -may- get an extra attack due to the weapon swap bug, but it's not deliberate. Telling someone you can't switch from a hammer to a sword during combat against mixed undead because bioware screwed up their code seems a bit unfair to the player.
Granted if the player in situation B was swapping weapons multiple times on the same enemy to get extra attacks, then yeah. nail them to the wall.
As for swapping gloves? yeah. that's an exploit no matter how you look at it it, It's not as simple as grabing something off a loop or out of a sheath

It's pretty easy to tell when someone is trying to get away with something. As long as I don't think someone is attempting to exploit something or getting a noticeable advantage by using a questionable method, I'll probably let it go. Most of us are pretty easygoing as long as you dont try to play us for idiots.

well most of the reason i made this post was because I saw the exploit post shortly after doing the orlbar crypt. I was switching weapons depending on if I Was fighting a boney or a fleshbag. I saw that post and thought "Gee, I'm lucky a dm wasn't watching me" then my next thought was "how are you supposed to do this if you can't swap weapons" because I could do 1 or 2 damage on a zombie with my hammer. So I decided to make this post to make sure that what I Was doing was actually okay.

Agreed, swapping weapons whilst in that sort of situation is fine, we can tell the difference between that and weapon swapping to get an exploit.
Good point about the gloves. That's bad. I've even seen some players change boots whilst charging the enemy, now that's fecking impressive.

I agree too. I really dont see any point in exploiting such bugs. That sucks and I dont want to go in adventure with such players.

We used to employ a "stop swap" script that would delay the actual weapon swapping to prevent this exploit from even being possible. It also caused (and rightly so) your enemies to get a free AoO often. However, due to occassional lag and more often, PCs with overloaded inventories, glitches would occur making you fail to equip the new weapon or dropping one on the ground, so we benevolently removed it. (See? We care ... sometimes) Myself Instead of using quick slots, I'll keep my inventory screen open and manually swap weapons. This guarantees I don't gain the extra attacks. I hower don't expect others to do it the exact same way. In short, its pretty clear to a DM IG when a player is purposely exploiting or not. Usually, a warning will correct the offense from continueing.

I got chars that swap gloves a lot, I try to do so before a fight or after a fight or if mid fight i hang back and do it, ie not doing it ewhyle fighting, even so sometime if I do it I get glitched because if the groups in combat your consiudered in combat and its mostly glitchy if the gloves are not quickslotted. as for boots and belts and the like yeah id say the same goes for those tough to change in a fight and if they aint quikslotted you will as like as not get a glitched belt or boots etc
