an update this fault was due to a faulty ati dll file I figured that out by looking for the error report sent to microsoft and it stated the faulty module was this dll so reinstallled my ati driver and its fixed but what a pain.

hey sorry Nura I just read this post of yours.
nwn did the same problems for me too with an ati update that happened the other day. i was able to fix it by uninstalling the ati command module (the entire program removed) and recalibrated nwn off of ati specs to my personal system specs by running nwn.exe, which should offer option to reconfigure settings (normally i think we'd just be running nwmain.exe).
anyhow, hope this helps at all. the .dll was the culprit for me as well, but i kept the newer drivers intact and just ditched the module which was actually faulting when loading nwn.

hey yeah but gah took me an entire day to figure this out and fix it because obviously couldnt be a graphics driver problem as tyhe driver has to work for me to get a decent screen resolution, yeah Im fairly sure its the fancy graphical interface thats the hassle rather than the simple driver. if it happens again ill go looking there first.

Same thing happened to me with the latest ATI update. I was able to get NWN working by running it in Windows XP compatibility mode - but the game ran very slow and laggy.
I uninstalled the entire ATI Catalyst software package and reverted to the November version of the drivers and everything works fine now.
In the future I will only update the drivers - ATI can choke on their catalyst software - that stuff really is only useful if you are tinkering with custom settings. If not, its basically bloatware.
